Happy New Year!! January Diner 2010!
By Will | December 30, 2009
Dear All,
Hope everyone had a memorable Christmas and will continue to celebrate in style, long into the morning of New Years Day… if not further!
The last year for us has been really productive, and although in the big scheme of things, we still haven’t taken this band to where we want it to go, we do feel lucky to have had the past 12 months as such a good experience, and as always, a learning process. On the back end of 2008, we were confused, didn’t really have any direction in terms of material, and would’ve given an arm to play places like the Waterrats, Barfly etc etc…my how things have changed.
Already planned for 2010, we have upped the anti, and are set to play places like the O2 Academy (Islington), the borderline (Charing X) and the Scala (Kings X). It has to be noted though, that none of this would be possible, if it weren’t for the consistent support we’ve been getting from you guys. At the end of the day, to be able to play these type of shows, its all about numbers in people.. (not the quality of music).. though in theory, it should come hand in hand. Still, we are so appreciative of everybody taking an interest in what we’re doing, and will always do our best to repay it, by giving you our best performances, and better material (Without ripping you off or exploiting you.) Promoters exploit bands, and in hand, ask them to exploit fans (i should be a rapper), something we don’t agree with…hence why we try to keep things simple when we put on shows at places like the Diner. This smoothly leads me on to my next point…
The next Downtown Diner show, in Ashford, is on the 24th Jan and will essentially be our first gig of the New Year.. so we’re hoping we can kick off with a bang. Tickets are as always £3 and if you want to guarantee entry, email- electric_river@yahoo.co.uk and we’ll get them to you in advance. (This is advised, as the last show was phenomenal, and if its anything like it was, we may not be able to fit anymore people inside.) Also on the line up are a top band called Five Floors Up, who we met at the Barfly a while ago. They’ll supplement the night with great riffs, fronted by a great vocal, so spread the word coz its gonna be a special one!
Anyway, once again, thanks for another year’s worth of support, thank you for reading this, and hopefully see you at the Downtown Diner on the 24th.
Signing off for 2009!

November Update-Phony Radio/Waterrats
By Will | November 15, 2009
As the doom and gloom settles in for a brief stint before the christmas lights illuminate yet another cold and wet festive season, we’re as usual, busy at camp recording and laying down new ideas for demos, hoping to shape out what will eventually be a good follow up to Radio no go!. Once again, we’d like to get everyone’s opinions, and familiarize our new material at live gigs, so we can suss out whether people dig what we’re doing, musicially. So, if you’ve got a minute, head over to our myspace hub (www.myspace.com/electricriver), and check out our latest demo.. ‘Phony Radio’….We believe in it…so i guess the next step is trying to convince everyone else to believe in it with us.
Until we finally do accumulate all the ingredients we need for another album, we will of course be gigging in all the places you’d expect to see us, including one of our personal favorites, the Waterrats in Kings Cross, London. We’ll be finishing off the night with a 45 minute set, and do still have a few more tickets for cheap (£3) we’re able to sell, without you being ripped off on the door. The coach to the gig is sold out, however its rumored London has trains that run underground, from larger overground terminals that connect people to Kent! We have to say a massive thank you to everyone who is supporting us on yet another venture into the capital… but also by the same token, our hats go off to the lovely body of people who helped us enjoy such a wonderful night at the Downtown Diner (8th Nov). The previous diner show, was hardly one to remember, so it was great to see that Ashford does still support live music, and we appreciate the effort everyone made, all be it a sunday night!
We’re also in the process of pressing together a bunch of EP’s for those of you interested in getting a copy of Dr Nation, Question Time, and Monster’s Ball. We’re hoping to have these by mid december, just in time to give people the opportunity to give us an xmas number 1 ; )
Anyway, check out the new track- Phony Radio!

Camden Barfly gig and coach!
By Will | July 6, 2009
Hellooo,
For those of you that don’t know already, we’ll be playing the notorious Camden Barfly on the 17th of July, along with several other top acts. We’re aiming to use the full band, which include, brass, keys, and guest vocs, to really make this another memorable show. All we need now as our final and main ingredient are you guys!
To make things easier, we’re running a coach, from Canterbury (leaving at 5.30pm), and Ashford (leaving at 6pm) and will provide travel, both to and from the venue. We’ve also done our best to keep costs down, and will be selling a package of travel and entry costs for £15. Tickets without the coach travel will cost £6, but only from us!! Just get in touch by messaging- electric_river@yahoo.co.uk
This is a show, that could really do a lot for us, so it would be all the more special if the people we love most could be there to see it happen.
Thanks for your support!

Lounge on the farm!!
By Will | July 6, 2009
Our favorite time of the year has rolled up again- thanks to the efforts of a group of hard working people, setting up the facility, for a mass exodus of people head down to the fields of merton farm, to enjoy ‘Kent’s bestest festival,’ Lounge on the farm. If you’ve never been to it, we suggest you get moving and grab a ticket, as it really is an atmosphere, you can’t describe unless you’re there..absorbing it.
As usual, we’re gonna try and better our show, though according to zebra magazine, last year’s performance might take some beating. Fortunately, this time round, we have a few partners in crime, willing to help us out so that we can turn our slot into a mini musical circus. We’re hitting the main stage at 3pm on sunday and really hope you can turn up to watch what should be a very special set indeed.
SPREAD THE WORD!!!

New Demo Material Uploaded!!
By Will | March 12, 2009
At long last, we are proud to throw out some new material, for those interested, to feed off for a while. As always, we love to hear what feedback you can give us, as they are still only demos, recorded on bog standard home equipment, and therefore can be changed.
At such an uncertain bleak time, we felt the need to lyrically try and raise some issues and points, which without being overly political, we hope we will achieve. ‘Question Time’ in particular, is a play on a public figure called John Bull, and simply demands answers. It highlights that sooner or later (the way things are going), you’ll be put in a position where some serious life changing decisions will have to be made, in order to make a stand.
Again, we’d love to know, what lines strike a chord with you, so that we can connect a whole vibe together, when it comes together, live.
Special thanks goes out to Ben Powling, from a band called Simian Artillery (Check them out!) for helping us lay down the brass parts, and as always, we really appreciate the interest we’re still getting from our followers after doing this for so long. This is probably the best material we’ve recorded in a while, and is a testament to your continued support.
Spread the word!

Club 229/ Bridgehouse II coach/thanks for your support
By Will | February 23, 2009
We are really grateful, to announce all the spaces on the coach to Club 229 (March 13th) are taken up, however, if you’d still like to come along to the show, we can still get you discounted tickets if you let us know.
Our next step ‘coachwise’ is a show in Canning Town (London) supporting a top Clash tribute band called ‘Rebel Truce’ at the famous Bridgehouse II Venue. This gig will take place on the 18th of April, and as always, we try to repay your support, by making these events as cheap as possible; especially during these troubled times. It will cost £11, which covers travel to and from the venue as well as entry. On this occasion, it will be running from Canterbury rather than Ashford. Spaces are being taken up fairly quickly, so please get in touch if you are interested.
Finally, we’d just like to say a huge thanks to everyone that has come out and supported us over the last few weeks. The recent Downtown Diner turnout was another success, and for people to bother showing interest in our efforts in London means a lot to us. Things are going well, but we certainly wouldn’t be in this position without your support.
Hopefully see you soon.

Club 229- 13th March 09
By Will | February 3, 2009
G’day!
On Friday 13th March, we will be playing a set at the wonderful Club 229 (www.229thevenue.co.uk), along with several other top bands. This is a show we are desperately trying to push, as it may offer us other significant opportunities if all goes well. Other acts to have played here recently, include Keane, Razorlight and Biffy Clyro.
It is an all ages show, and is a 600 capacity venue.. similar to that of the Kings Hall in Herne Bay. In order to try and fill it up as much as possible, resulting in a great atmosphere, we are hoping to run a coach from Kent. We’ve tried our hardest to keep costs down for everyone as have come up with a price of between £10 and £11, which will include, travel to the gig, gig entry, travel back, and a free entry to the following Mean Age Kicks night (Downtown Diner) in early April.
For those of you that do not require transport, we are selling 60 tickets for £3 each (Massive discount), as it will be £8 on the door and £6 in advance from the venue…so get in touch soon by messaging us on myspace or (electric_river@yahoo.co.uk) to ensure you’re not paying more than you should!
Club 229 is located at:
229 Great Portland Street
LONDON
W1W 5PN
It will be a great night out, and really hope to hear from some of you soon. Once again, thank you for reading this and continuing to support the E.R. family and cause.

Finally, just as important to us, is the ‘Mean Age Kicks’ gig on sunday the 8th of Feb, at our home ground, the Downtown Diner. We’re trying to keep music alive in Ashford by putting on these dates and really hope we can continue to help the scene stay afloat. Its the same deal as it always is (£3 Entry, All Ages, 7.30pm Start) only this time we are pleased to announce our support band being..Shyclo and the Boys!.
We really would appreciate the support for Mean Age Kicks nights as it gives us and other bands the opportunity to push original live music.. something we don’t see enough of in Kent.
Obviously there are plenty of other shows going on in London and the South East, so if interested please, take a quick look at our ever growing giglist.
Now more than ever we need your support, so if you have a spare moment, please send a text/message/email to your friends and famiy and help spread the word of Electric River.
Thank you for reading this, and hope to see you at a show soon.

Downtown Diner- (Will’s Birthday Gig!) 23rd Nov 08!
By Will | November 18, 2008
Hey everyone,
This sunday we’ll be back, once again, to try and conquer our local hometown venue the Downtown Diner, by celebrating my 21st birthday at the same time. Anyone and everyone is welcome to the show, as a friend/supporter of the band is most definately a friend of mine! For those of you that may have come to the previous two shows held all in just over the last month, you should bear in mind that this gig will be different in a lot of ways and as usual we’ve made an effort to stir the ship into more unexpected directions. The best present i could ever wish for, is for a load of people to turn up and show support to the efforts the Electric River family consistantly make. This leads me on to my next point.. we have been working hard to get together some new material and will be trying it out in a studio starting from as soon as the following day! So it’d be great to gauge the reaction from this show as to what you think of some of the new songs.
That’s it for now. Really hope to see a lot of you for what’s looking to be another wicked sunday night diner show! Doors open: 7.30 and all ages are welcome! Thanks for reading this.
